Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer and director. Her work has been recognized for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her numerous awards, among them an Oscar. Early on her acclaimed actress started acting on stage in various Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. Passionate about acting since her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf in the one ear. However, she did not allow this hinder her progress as an actor. At college, she was a theatre student and later moved from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her dream. Hunter was trapped in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They worked together to write Broadway Crimes of the Heart in which Hunter made her Broadway debut. Her first role in film came following her move to Los Angeles. She has since appeared in many shows and TV films over a career spanning more than 30 years. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and won Women in Film Lucy Award.
